  A depressingly difficult crime to prove. The offender is indeed generally more protected than the victim. There are of course reasons for the presumption, but conviction rates are ludicrously low internationally (along with reporting & prosecutions).

  Anyone who is proven to commit such a horrific crime should be castrated or killed.
  On the other hand, if the crime is clearly a malicious, intentional attempt to get back at a former boyfriend or lover, the person making those false charges deserves severe punishment.
  Think Tawana Brawley, Christine Blasey Ford and The Duke lacrosse case (where the “rogue prosecutor” was disbarred ). Yes, rape needs to be punished, but a rush to accuse can be just as devastating to the accused. Read this book with a tablespoon of salt.

  Funny you mention Christine Blasey Ford. She did not falsely accuse Kavanaugh of assault. If she had, then like some of the others in the names you dropped, he would have filed a defamation lawsuit. He didn’t and is probably very glad he didn’t as we saw what happened when Trump assaulted a woman and then called her a liar: he owes her $5 million for the defamation. But perhaps you need to get your story straight as I’m sure you’re one of the ones that always ask ‘why didn’t she go to the cops immediately if it *really* happened’ but then turn around and condemn ‘a rush to accuse’. Can’t eat your cake and have it too.

  The issue of false accusation or calumny is already taken very seriously in Western jurisdictions, as reputation is a species of property (personal; intangible). Those who dishonestly, maliciously accuse others of grave offences can receive custodial sentences. So it is considered in the criminal, as well as civil, realm. Such improper reputational damage can indeed be devastating. However, such cases typically do no not make it to court, due to the extremely high evidentiary bar.

  On the substantive issue, when you know people who have been raped, you fully realise the intensely difficult nature of the process for the victim - how they experience this traumatic procedure, the course of which is comparable to revictimisation. Consequently, many victims will just leave it, and try to carry on. To put it mildly, this is inimical to the interests of justice.

  “Rape culture” is just women bitching about men. It’s appalling what women are allowed to get away with. Rape should be treated like any other crime: if you don’t immediately report it, if there’s no physical evidence, there’s no grounds to convict.

  If the problem is so serious, where are her statistics on the percentage of false claims and allegations? If that is missing, guaranteed she has hardcore 3rd wave feminist bias. And where is the nuance and differentiation between a savage unprovoked assault, and an allegation made 10 or 20 years later against a high value target? All these factors only discredit the argument and sadly in getting justice for the most needed victims, which I am in full support for, and all because of what? Aberrant selfish narcissistic dark triad tendencies in some women who use this allegation as a weapon or come-up? And current events show that false accusers are still having little to no repercussions in their disgusting false accusations, just check the news. Ironically, with the current trajectory of political choices made by many women voting hard left, a failed collapsed society will become a true rape culture, just look at the horrible events of post-defeat German women.

  Rape culture is the fact that 1 in every 9 women is sexually assaulted before the age of 18. I know that because I grew up around it.

  In third grade teachers lost a pack of smokes. I noticed she was worried, figured I’d get beat up when I walked home anyway so stayed to help. Another girl stayed too. Looked scared. Turned out she took the smokes. When asked why she said it was because she heard smoking helped with stress and what her uncle was doing to her was very stressful. She then told both of us what that was. She was nine. After that I started asking women about this kind of stuff. So far I haven’t found a single one without a story. I absolutely believe the statistics.

  None of the people denying this have any idea what they are talking about. They don’t want it to be true so they cherry pick the rare cases where it isn’t and try to present that as the norm. At least 1 in 4 women have been sexually assaulted. And the conviction rate for sexual assault is 2.5%. There is no easier to get away with crime in the US. Speeding has a higher conviction rate, at least in cities with traffic cams.

  Bill Cosby dead to rights was guilty, and not even he, with all that testimony, is going to do time. The system is broken and if you think it’s broken in favor of women then you’re deluded.

  Maybe in the Congo where rape is a weapon of war.
  In the Western world, the average man is vilified if he even tries to approach (the top 10% get a pass, of course).

  Ahh, the fiction of “rape culture”, it’s another way to remove agency from women and demonize men.

  Rapists are scum but possibly, not quite as scummy as the people who constantly seek victimhood in order to divide the plebs and ensure their attention is never focused on the elites ruining the world around them.
