In 1897, Britain sent a punitive expedition to the Kingdom of Benin, in what is today Nigeria, in retaliation for the killing of seven British officials and traders. British soldiers and sailors captured Benin, exiled its king and annexed the territory. They also made off with some of Africa’s greatest works of art.

But seeing them in the British Museum today is, in the words of one Benin City artist, like ‘visiting relatives behind bars’. All western culture is based on the destruction and enslavement of the rest of the world. White men know that this age of destruction is coming to an end and they’re angry about it because they know they can’t participate in what’s coming next. Why not? White people reproduced heavily when they were committing genocide all over the world, but that has dried out because the fighting and conquering has ended. Now that these places they stole are being taken over by brown people, white people have decided to just lie back and die, because they know they can’t win this battle and they know that if they don’t give the stuff back, the rest of us haven’t forgotten what they did and will do the same to them AND THEY KNOW IT!
So keep doing your childish complaints, because they’re hilarious to read. But we all know the truth: the white christian man’s time is over, he knows it and he’s terrified, so he’s gonna start giving these things back because he knows we’re gonna come wipe him out if he doesn’t, so he wants to enjoy his last few years alive. The British Museum is not a court of law. If its holdings have not been ruled stolen under British law then it has no obligation to dispose of them. Indeed, the museum presumably has an obligation to keep and preserve it under its charter and bylaws.

Yes, unfortunately, we’re in the realm of broader culpability & natural law principles. Black letter & positive law can always operate injustices. The British justice system is notorious in this regard: imprisoning innocent people for decades; evidence tampering; people dying in custody; institutional racism; class & status allowing people to escape the law, failure to investigate, etc. etc.

Despite the barrage of tantrums about ‘woke’, ‘leftists’s blah blah from the usual nutters, this is a pretty balanced and informed book dealing with the end of the Edo Empire. It received numerous positive reviews from Right Wing News outlets and was described by the UK’s leading Conservative newspaper as; “gripping work of live history…It is the handling of this seeping undertone of racism that makes this book so valuable, a primer for the debate on colonial guilt and echoing white supremacy.”

Yes there was lots of dancing, singing, laughing, loving in Rwanda in 1994. Lots more currently happening in Ethiopia, Libya, Mali, Somalia, South Sudan, and Syria. Africans certainly know how to have fun. Not to mention the good times to be had in Haiti. I suppose that’s why so many of them are fleeing in droves: they are tired of all the dancing, singing, laughing, loving.
