This is yet another “Mona Lisa”; people think it’s good because its relevant, rather than find it relevant because it’s good. Probably Don Winslow’s worst work in this apparently never-ending game of exploiting social and political issues for better sales.

marcodiluce, that is a very unfair comment. Don Winslow has been doing the research on the subject for over 15 years. So it wasn’t as if he woke up yesterday and decided to write a bestseller. Also, highlighting extremely important issues, such as war on drugs, etc., is not “exploiting” them.
In any case, complaining about better sales is a bit ironic on a illegal torrent site :)

I don’t think it matters to most of us if it’s relevant or not as long as it’s good. You’re really just arguing with nobody but yourself. And trying VERY hard to sound interesting.
As far as “exploiting” social and political issues, just say what you really mean. It’s pretty transparent anyway, so just say it.
